Anonymous said: What generated your style/technique in the music you choose to DJ?

hmmm a lot of it was just listening to music. my pops was like a cd god growing up lol so i had all kinds of music in the house. playing the sax helped w/ me learning how to mix counting beats etc etc. as far as my style.. although i play a lot of hip-hop/rap music i’ve always had a love for house music. in my opinion as a dj you can do a lot more w/ those sounds. Djs like jazzy Jeff & Dj AM have had a lot of influence on my style jazzy Jeff for the turntablism, AM for the variety. i just try to mix it up, while still catering to the crowd. open up ears a little bit, radio and mainstream music is kind of narrow so ppl go out only wanting to hear five artist now a days. but if you go out and only hear shit you heard on the radio why come out and check me out? mixing & blending is key for me as well, I want the music to sound continuous. lots of times you can be out and the djs switch songs to a different genre and totally f*ck up your vibe. So I gotta make sure everything blends.. hopefully i answered the question lol.
